Since the Philippine launch of Avon ’s
Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) advocacy in 2002, it has been KGBC’s
mission to help provide access to care and support to medically underserved
women. Breast cancer remains the top
killer of Filipino women, creating an urgent call to action in the fight
against this life-threatening disease.
Avon, the company for women, is once again at the forefront in the fight againts breast cancer by launching its Do Something Beautiful against Breast
Cancer Campaign, the idea behind which simply speaks of Filipino’s innate trait
of being matulungin or helpful, doing something for someone because you are
capable and are willing to help.
You can Do Something Beautiful Against Breast Cancer by
participating in this year’s KGBC’s Manila Run on October 13 at the SM Mall of
Asia Open Grounds. For a registration fee of
P550 for the 5K category and P700 for the 10K category, you’ll receive the Avon
KGBC race kit that includes a singlet, race bib number and giveaway. Proceeds from the event will go to the
Philippine General Hospital Breast Care Center and selected provincial
hospitals.
You can register online and get more details about the cause
at www.avon.com.ph or
facebook.com/AvonPhilippines, and @AvonPH on Twitter and Instagram. KGBC Manila Run registration starts August 12 at the
following Chris Sports branches: SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia,
Glorietta 3, Festival Mall in Alabang, and Fitness and Athletics at Bonifacio Global City.
You can also help the cause just by posting or tweeting messages
or photos that illustrate the concept of ‘doing something beautiful’ for others
on your Twitter, Instagram or Facebook beginning 2 September 2013. It can
be as simple as a quote, a statement or a picture. Make sure to finish it off
with #DoSomethingBeautiful every time to help spread the word!
We want everyone to document actions that though seem small,
may have a huge impact on someone else’s life. Little things, as we know,
collectively lead to bigger actions and awareness for important issues.
If we all #DoSomethingBeautiful we are helping
drive awareness and raise funds for the thousands of Filipinas suffering
from breast cancer.
Happy tweeting and posting!
Your active participation not only makes you a catalyst for
change but also translates into a significant contribution towards the fight
against breast cancer. Get on your mark and get ready to Do Something Beautiful against Breast Cancer!
